Helloooo to all my super talented scrappy-peeps out there! : ]

I have missed you all and scrapping so much & I am soooo far behind on it this year, but I really cannot complain. My life has changed so much over the last year and a half and I wouldn't have it any other way. That is actually why I am writing a blog entry on here tonight.

Those of you who know me know that a little over a year and a half ago, I became a Christ follower. Well, in this short amount of time the Lord has truly done some amazing things in my life. I had been wrestling with whether to keep a journal or blog, to document my experiences and finally decided on a blog. This way I can share how He has changed my life & used me to impact the lives of others and present it to others on this great resource we call the world-wide web. Not only do I wish to keep a record of the impact His influence has had on my life, but I look forward to interacting with others & maybe even inspiring some to share their own stories. Other than living my life for Him as He would have me live it, which only impacts those I come in physical contact with or who I see on a regular basis, I believe this is the best way that I can do my part to be the witness for Christ that I feel He is calling me to be.

So, if you're still reading I invite you to check out my New blog:  The Way, The TRUTH & My Life and join me as I document my journey following Christ & living for Him. Would love to get some feedback and feel free to share your own experiences if you'd like as well.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas & a blessed New Year!!

Hello again Scrappy friends! It has been sooo long since I blogged, but I recently unpacked the majority of my scrappy supplies & set up my New Scrappin' Spot in our apartment! I'm so excited to finally be able to scrap again!!!! Yaaay!! : ]

I also finished 2 LO's & decided it was time to blog about them. Life has been crazy-busy for me this year & blogging has kinda fallen out of focus but starting now I'm going to make an effort to post whenever I scrap something new. So without further delay, here's the goods.
Both of these LO's are for my friend Carlos's Album which I am thrilled to announce is now complete! Whoo-hoo!! I had been working on it for some time & I'm glad to have finally gotten around to completing it. He's gonna love it & I can't wait to ship it off to him! His mom is gonna be sooo surprised, I can't wait for her to see it!
The first LO below was made w/pics taken @ the Coca Cola Factory in Atlanta, GA. I guess he was there sometime during his training because I believe these are both fellow Army buddies in the pics w/him. I decided to go w/a selection of Jenni Bowlin papers along w/the vintage star pp from Rusty Pickle in order to convey the All-American feel & look I wanted for this page. I actually ordered a new Cricut cartridge just so I could make a homemade soda bottle embellishment to go on this page & I LUV how it turned out!! : ]

The next LO was made w/random shots of him I really didn't know what to do with, but that I wanted to include in his book. I used a mix of  2 different Basic Grey lines & a touch of Jenni Bowlin (the navy polka-dot strip down the center). I even was able to use up some old alpha's & metal washers that I've had in my stash for years! I doodled dots around all the circles & inked the edges of the pics to grunge them up a bit. I also scissor distressed the edges of the background paper, the polka-dot strip & the small circles I cut out. It took me a couple days to figure out a title, but finally decided to go w/this one after some divine inspiration. Figured it was fitting since my friend is a solider. TFL & have a Happy Scrappy Day! : ]

Happy Scrappy MONDAY!

So, I finished another double page LO for my friend Carlos' Album that I started working on last year. That means I only have 1 more LO to go to complete his book, whoo-hoo!! I'm so happy to have almost completed this project for him and extremely excited for his family to see it! I don't even know if they know I'm making it for him. He asked me before he left for Afghanistan last year if I could "do something" with his photos after seeing some pics of my LO's that I had posted on facebook. Naturally I agreed and he brought over a huge stack of pics! We went through them together and he gave me a few details which I jotted down on the back of some of the pics I was planning to scrap for him. We have been writing back and forth keeping in touch on facebook during his tour and I am anxiously awaiting his return home and his reaction to seeing what I have created w/his photos.

Here is the LO I finished this week.

I had been putting off scrapping these photos and almost didn't because I couldn't figure out a photo placement I was happy with. That is until I went back through my JAN issue of Creating Keepsakes Magazine! All of a sudden there it was staring me in the face, the inspiration I had been looking for! (Totally Tubular LO by Erika Stanton Page 25).

I went with a kraft cardstock background to try and keep the LO as cohesive w/the rest of the album as I possibly could. I pulled various items from my collection of Vintage Chic Cafe kits I've collected over the months and was even able to use some pp that has been in my stash for the last 4-5 years!! As soon as I saw the snow flurries falling in the close-up shot I knew I wanted to create a similar look on the LO. To create that effect I used a pack of dimensional snowflake stickers that have been in my stash a little over a year. It feels great to have finally scrapped these pics and utilize a few older stash items in the process.

Thanks for stopping by & have a SCRAP-TASTIC day!! : ]

My 1st EVER Sketchy Thursday LO...

Hello everyone! It's been a few weeks since my last post, but I wanted to take a moment & share my latest creation. I was inspired to make this page by the March Guest Design Team Member Challenge over on the Sketchy Thursday Blog. It was such a fabulous sketch I just had to do it! Here's the AWEsome sketch we had to work with...

In addition to using the sketch, we were also to use the following on our LO's:

♥ Pink & Green or Red & Turquoise
♥ Hearts
♥ A list about something/someone you love

I decided to work with red & turquoise~absolutely luv this color combo!

I had the BEST time creating this page and I'm happy to announce that this is the 1st LO I've created with photos from our wedding! I am THRILLED at how it turned out and so is the hubby! : ]
I used a combination of pattern papers including My Mind's Eye~background, Jenni Bowlin~red floral, October Afternoon~turquoise doilie pp and some Basic Grey scraps I found that I thought went well with all the others. I used 2 small round doilies behind the large photo and was able to incorporate the small inside of the heart doilie I cut up & used on my "So In Love" LO! I added hidden journaling on it and made a little loop from a strip of red polka-dot ribbon to make it easy to pull out and read.

***I took the pic below before I realized I had originally used the wrong word in my title! My sister actually pointed it out to me. It has since been changed on the LO and in the pic above. I just decided to leave this close-up shot up for now since I have to start getting ready for work soon.***

The heart banner was actually easier to make than I thought it would be. I drew different sized hearts on the back of my pp scraps and then folded the paper at the top of the drawn heart. I then cut out the shape minus about an eighth of an inch at the highest parts of the heart so I would have a double sided shape to fold over the twine. I've never tried making a banner before, but definitely plan to use them again now that I know how easy they are to make! : ]

Thanks for stopping by and have a Happy, Scrappy Day!!

My Wedding in Pictures & a few New LO's! : ]

Ok, so the Holidays have passed and I've gotten back into my scrappin' groove for now. I say for now because we're going to be moving to a NEW apartment in March, so that means I really only have until mid-February to scrap before I'll be busy packing things up and purging the house in order to make moving a little easier. Oh, and the 1st weekend in March I'll be up in Jacksonville @ my SIL's baby shower! I'm sooo excited for her & my lil' bro and totally looking forward to being an Aunt! : ]

After thinking it through I have decided to post a link to my Wedding Photo Album on my Facebook for those of you who would like to have a glimpse into Our Special Day. There were so many special moments captured by our photographer that I'm almost dreading starting work on our wedding album, lol! The sheer thought of tackling it is overwhelming so I'll most likely wait until I'm all set up in my New Scrappy Space in our New Apartment in March.

So for now, here's what I've been keeping busy working on...

These are the pics I told y'all about that were taken of me while I was being baptized last June. I wanted to keep this LO cohesive w/the double page LO I already scrapped of the before & after shots, so I went with a plain Kraft cardstock background. To compliment I found a scrap piece of pattern paper I've probably had for years that had the vintage feel of an old book and an aged pattern that went perfectly with all the elements I wanted to use from my Vintage Chic Cafe kits.

My next creation was inspired by a sketch I found in my latest SBEtc. Magazine. I took this pic on Christmas Day of the whole Family, well, minus my sister who couldn't make it down.
This is also the first time I've tried my hand at paper pleating-the ruffle looking strip of pp below the floral pp block the photo is on. It didn't turn out as great as I would have liked, but the technique is fairly easy. I really like the detail the paper pleating adds to a page so I plan to try again in the future and see if I can improve my skills. ; ]

For those of you who don't know, the hubby & I decided to surprise his son this year and adopted a puppy for Christmas. This is me, Jarett & our furry new addition a few days before Christmas. She is the cutest little thing-a min-pin mix. We named her Fiona after a character in one of our favorite TV shows. She is quickly becoming our spoiled little princess! LOL!!

I had fun mixing Bo-Bunny's Tis the Season line w/Basic Grey's Eskimo Kisses on this LO. I was even able to incorporate some lace glitter paper that's been in my stash for more than a year! I luv how it looks over top of the bold Bo-Bunny pp's! The little trees were all hand cut from a piece of pp before being adhered to the page. I also doodled around each of the layers of pp. For the title, I mixed thickers w/rub-on's and some older alpha's from mt stash.

This last LO is the one that took me the longest to put together...and not because there's so much on it either, LOL! But because I hand stitched the cut-out heart shaped lace paper doilie to the page! Needless to say I wont be doing much hand stitching in the future! It took me 2 weeks of working on it to finally complete this page, but I'm thrilled w/how it turned out so i guess it was worth the wait!

I mixed C'oredinations cardstock w/Jenni Bowlin & a couple different papers from the Basic Grey Capella line. I also used a printed transparancy from Making Menories and cut out the heart from an old doilie i've had in my stash since last February. The red bow was made from a silk ribbon I saved from a gift my hubby gave me the day after our wedding. <3

Thanks for stopping by!
